Surprised ?????

Yes it is true, if you send PDF file attachment anyone in gmail it will display as HTML also.

I have no idea how many of you are aware of this, but you can apparently lift the usage restriction from PDF files by simply forwarding them as attachments to your Gmail account. You can then open them in HTML mode from your inbox.

This enables you to copy whatever the ’so called secured’ PDF contains to a text editor. PDFs (Portable Document Format) can be encrypted so that a password is needed to view or edit its content, and they can also contain embedded DRM restrictions that provide further controls that limit copying, editing or printing.

We have found that the ‘view in HTML’ feature in Gmail strips off the restriction and enables an encrypted file to be displayed in HTML version. There may be changes in the formatting, but the text can simply be copied and pasted. Restrictions on printing the file are also stripped away.

This will save you trouble next time someone you want to open an encrypted Adobe PDF file to copy or edit. Just make sure you are doing nothing illegal.
